This year we were pleased to help the British Museum with their exhibition The art of peace: Paintings by the poet Tagore held there in November as part of their Voices of Bengal.
The exhibition featured paintings by Tagore, and stemmed from the collections of the British Museum.
As part of the exhibition, the Tagore Centre UK provided an original photograph of Tagore by Shambhu Saha and the first edition of THE SACRIFICE AND OTHER PLAYS published by Macmillan in 1917.

2006 also brought with it another sterling performance by the Tagore Centre Youth Forum titled Sacrifice. Sacrifice was based on the play Bisarjan by Rabindranath Tagore and was appreciated by the packed out Saturday night audience of the Shaw Theatre, London.

Accompanying the play was U’Zamberi Arts dance company who performed South African 'gum boot' dance - with an additional collaboration performance with Indian dancers. Their performance also included a newly devised piece, which brought together South African performing arts and Indian classical dance to compliment Tagore’s philosophy.
The evening was supported by Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, The Scarman Trust and HarCEN the Community Empowerment Network for Haringey.
