Tagore Evening - a special event celebrating 25 years of the Tagore Centre UK took place in June at the Centre in collaboration with Alexandra Park Library, which included an evening of music, dance, and a piece of theatre written by Tagore which involved audience participation featuring the local community. And then the big one in autumn, together with our friends the Asian Music Circuit, we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a day of music, dance and poetry readings at The Scoop on London’s South Bank, Saturday 25 September. From noon right through till 4.30pm, More London's outdoor auditorium was filled with South Asian Culture, with members of the public of all backgrounds enjoying the free festivities. The weather was also kind on a brisk Autumn's day that began with Baul musicians, who set the scene for a fantastic cultural feast of Tagore’s music, drama, poetry and dance all performed by local artists, London school children, members of the Tagore Centre UK and other community groups. We were also lucky to feature performers from around the world, including Hans Vermeersch, the well-known Belgium fiddle player who specialises in interpreting and playing Tagore’s music.
