She accomplished D.Phil. from the University of Oxford and retired as Professor, Social Sciences Division, Indian Statistical Institute in 2004. She held Visiting Fellowships at the University of Oxford and at Columbia University in the City of New York. Sonallii Ray Sonali had training in Hindustani classical (vocal) and semi-classical music for many years. She had the opportunity to learn from eminent Hindusthani classical vocalists namely late Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri, and Srimati Dalia Rahut. Sonali sings classical, semi classical and different genres of Bengali songs with equal proficiency and has performed widely. Academically Sonali obtained her Masters degrees in Economics, Management and Mathematics from UK and US. Currently, she teaches Mathematics at a reputed college in Toronto, Canada. Amiita Dutt Scholar, choreographer and danseuse Amita Dutt, Uday Shankar Professor at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, has been serving the world of Kathak for more than two decades. Groomed in the strictest classical traditions under Pdt.Birju Maharaj and other leading maestros of the premier Kathak gharanas, Amita has performed far and wide across three continents, notably the Khajuraho Dance Festival, the Konark Festival, Utsav Mahakaleshwar, Rajgir Mahotsav, the Biswa Banga Millennium Festival, the First South Asian Festival of SAARC Countries, the India Festival in USSR, the American Dance Festival and the Uday Shankar Festival. Amita is also a brilliant student of English Literature and a Gold Medallist of the Calcutta University. Her publications include Bhakti in Indian Classical Dances (Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad), Desh Binodon 1987 (Special Issue on Dance), The Statesman Festival Number 1990, Special Independence Golden Jubilee Issue of Desh and Dance Specials of Nandan.
