It is with great sadness and regret we inform you that our friend Mr Kalyan Sircar sadly passed away on 17 August 2020.
As many of you will know, Mr Sircar has been with The Tagore Centre from
the outset, and has made a significant contribution over the years. He
studied Economics at the London School of Economics, and held teaching
positions in a number of higher education institutions in the UK; before
his retirement, he was teaching at the Open University.
In the mid eighties when The Tagore Centre UK was established, he became
the founder Chairperson, a position that he held for six years. Under
his co-editorship the following books were published This world is Beautiful, Imagining Tagore, and Rabindranath Tagore and the British Press.
Mr Sircar will be remembered with respect and appreciation, and our
condolences go to his wife and family.
Lord, pray I touch Your feet,do not move them aawat from me. In life and death, in joy and sorrow, those feet I hold close to my heart.
The brutal burden of lust and longing that I carry for how long I know not – a garland You string with Your own hand, but pray do not forsake me.
Save me from the ever presentpain of lust and desire athirst – by destroying them. My submission under your blessed feetbrings my final victory.
Tired is my being losing all – in fruitless yearnings day in and day out.Bless me, O Lord, take me with you, garland me with your embrace.
